Thoughts for international Nurses Day Tomorrow I’m inspired by the nurses i see around me- the nurse practitioners in the OR who are surgical assistants(their hands are steady,their suturing is neat and their teaching skills are fabulousThe new grads who are so keen to learnThe nurses from overseas who are able to be funny in their second language ,now thats a skill(maybe i’m extra impressed as the only other language i speak is German which is a serious langage )Special shout out to my team the peads anaesthetic nurses- We deal with snot and screaming on a daily basis,our work is frequently technically challenging and our patients tell us what they think”i don’t like you and i don’t like your mask”#HappyInternationalNursesDay

Happy International Nurses Week!I’m fortunate to have seen a lot of change in my carer ,We used to count drip rates,no fancy IV pumps,or even basic ones And chest drains used to be made of glass,I still have nightmares about the thought of the shatteringNow we chart on computers and work with surgical robots but the heart of nursing hasn’t changedWe are still with our patients whenever and where ever they need us to beWhether in a futuristic OR or out in the community.We still advocate for our patients whoever they are to get the best care#HappyInternationlNursesWeek
