I've experienced nothing but severe problems with UMB regarding a simple checking account since the beginning. They lost $1,000 of my money when I first opened the account, they locked me out of my account and marked my own personal check as fraud, and did not fix it for a week. And now, they have committed an error by draining my account of all funds, totaling over $3,000, for no apparent reason whatsoever. There is no customer service available on weekends. When you do call customer service, they mock your last name. This bank is a disappointment! It's deplorable! They should be held accountable. When I get my money back, I'm switching to a new bank with professional conduct; not this travesty!

This bank does not deserve to be in the online banking system as far as card services and management go.
Horrible website.
Even worse ACH verification and auto-pay process.
The worst by far credit card experience ever.

After about nine months, UMB finally recognized that a purchase I made and subsequently contested should be refunded to me. After six long months of getting nowhere, I eventually submitted a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and maybe that's what made them see the light. They were insisting on the fact that it was not a "billing error" since I had authorized the purchase. However, the vendor's website states that I can cancel their subscription service within three days, which I did. Therefore, it was not a billing error but a valid refund under the guidelines of the vendor. Yet, time and time again, UMB refused to comprehend that distinction.

I used to love UMB. Then something changed. Their customer service is non-existent, their processes are flawed, and they go out of their way to make any issue a customer faces nearly impossible to solve. On several occasions, they moved transactions so that they would cause an overdraft for a customer, or they blatantly charged inaccurate fees and made you jump through hoops to get them corrected. They would place holds without any notification and give you the runaround on who can or cannot help. Stay away.

I would give UMB zero stars if I could. Horrible credit card. I had impeccable credit and never paid late in my life. Unfortunately, in July and August of last year, I was a victim of identity theft and bank fraud. My bank assets were frozen immediately to prevent further revenue loss in my bank account and for an investigation. I notified UMB via phone and in writing (with tracked receipt) of the situation and the need to make payment arrangements, as well as a late payment to my UMB credit card due to my bank account and my money being frozen by my credit union for an investigation. However, UMB still marked me late on my credit report, dropping my credit score immensely. I have contacted UMB numerous times to dispute this and request the removal of this marking, and they refuse to do so.

Take it to the Grave: My mother passed away with a $190 credit on her account. We canceled her card within a week of her passing (1/19/2023). Mysteriously, her account was assessed a $95 charge on 3/20/2023, which was a month after her account was canceled. After sending a copy of her death certificate, UMB said they would follow up with an explanation in 6 months. They never did respond, and today I was informed over the phone that they cannot share any account information. It's not about the $95; it's about the process. I did ask who holds the money that should have been credited, and the answer was UMB. That's all I needed to hear.

Worst Service I have ever dealt with for fraud. No one could verify my account over the phone while my account was getting drained by fraud charges that I am trying to stop.

You go to a bank with your full trust and when that trust gets broken it's hard to trust banks after the fact. This has been truly a nightmare of a experience since opening the account less than a month ago. Not only were my accounts set up wrong in front of me but the statements printed out after setting up my account do not match what's actually in my accounts. Then getting treated horrible when you call the bank about your concerns with not only your accounts but also the fact that anytime you use your card they put a hold on the card and mark your transaction as fraud so every time I use my own money I then have to call to have my card unlocked. This whole process has been not only a nightmare but just wrong. The way I have been treated because I'm rightfully concerned that this bank is doing whatever they want with my account and I feel as if I have zero control over my own money. I'm now closing my accounts and really I urge everyone to stay firing clear of this place.

Opened my account about a year ago and now I called them about someone getting into my account via the mobile app and they didn't send me the secure access code but let someone login then let someone even add an external account to my account but when I call them they send me a letter saying they are closing my account due to unsatisfactory handling. When I go to the local branch I'm treated like a dog on the street. Then told to contact customer service then customer service said talk to the branch. Now they have my account frozen until August 7,2023 and my SSI CHECK comes in on the first of the month and I can't pay my bills they don't even care.

Have been having issues with debit purchases at Walmart for a month now. They claim this has been an ongoing problem and issued me a new card to rectify the issue. The problem remains with the new card. They claim that it is Walmart's fault but are working on the problem themselves. This is clearly both a Walmart AND a UMB problem and they should be working together to solve it. I think it is safe to say that after over a month with no resolution that they are not. Sad but after 30+ years with UMB I will be moving on. If you don't have access to your money through your bank, what good are they? That is essentially their reason for existing.

As another on here mentioned. Old National sold all their HSA accounts to UMB whether we liked it or not. I filed paperwork to transfer my HSA to an institution of my choice before their stated deadline. To which they ignored and proceeded to let the transfer to UMB proceed. Then I requested another transfer once funds were at UMB which went through with a nice $25 closure fee. As one other mentioned this took almost 2 months while not having access to a usable debit card for medical expenses for over a month. Gotta admit it's a pretty nice scam UMB has going as either way they get your investment OR a $25 fee for doing nothing other than allowing a transfer to go elsewhere and closing your account. Congrats on being a bottom feeder.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I waited 3 weeks for a balance transfer payment to be received .. I kept calling and today found out the check this ridiculous UMB sent had been returned to them damaged !
NO-ONE CONTACTED ME!
I had to find out by calling the bank .. they didn’t show any courtesy by notifying me or offer to overnight a new check or offer to let ME pay to overnight the check ..
This so called supervisor named Isabella called me after my complaint escalated to a supervisor..
and what did she say to me?
It hadn’t been 14 business days !!!
What did that have to do with my case.
She didn’t offer to help me get this payment resent quickly .. She wouldn’t allow me to pay for the overnight because it was mailed yesterday !!!
she stated it wasn’t their policy to overnight ..
She was not in the least sympathetic.. and she’s a supervisor ??? In customer service ???
. My credit score dropped 13 points because this has made my credit account go over the 30% for not getting this payment credited .. I paid the fees charged for this balance transfer by UMB and UMB could care less how long it takes . Now I have to wait another 3 weeks ! This bank is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced .. DON’T waste your time with this joke of a bank.

Old National Bank recently sold its health savings accounts business to UMB Bank. Without any prior notice, they canceled customers' debit cards, making it impossible to pay health care expenses including Medicare premiums. The new debit cards were never received. Without the new cards, it was impossible to access our health savings accounts, Old National/UMB refused to rectify this situation, leading us to file formal complaints with the US Treasury Department. Don't do business with either of these ripoff organizations!

Worst banking experience ever. Had my account 6 months, transactions always say pending, double charges at the gas station every time, never happened with any other bank. They decided to close my account for whatever reason, I still am unsure why. First they froze it, then could not give me a good reason why. Then the fraud department said it was because of an outstanding account with another bank witch I don't have. I went in to a branch to speak with some one and the first time I was treated like they didn't care, second time was at a different branch and the teller told me my account was in the process of being closed. I contacted the fraud department and was able to get my funds, then I closed the account before they could. I will never bank with UMB EVER AGAIN (not that they care) and I hope that you wont make the mistake of banking with them either. Had to leave a 1 star rating just to submit this review. Not because I think they deserve a rating that good.

The starting credit limit for the Classic Industries Credit card is determined based on a number of factors, such as your credit score, credit history and annual income.

Usually credit cards that require good credit for approval have an average credit limit of $7,500.

Even if you're not comfortable with your starting credit limit, you can increase it in time with responsible credit utilization.

But you must keep in mind, that when a credit limit increase is requested and not offered, it could result in a hard inquiry. This will affect your credit score for a short period of time.
